Our client is a well-established, privately held specialty finance company headquartered in West Los Angeles. The company provides asset-backed financing to small and lower middle-market businesses across all industries nationally. The firm has seen consistent double digit deal growth year over year and operates with a lean, high-ownership culture where contributors at every level have real visibility and impact.

The Opportunity

The Accounting Manager reports directly to the CFO and leads a three-person accounting team. This is a hands-on leadership role with full ownership of the accounting function, including GL management, financial reporting, bank compliance, and process improvement, with direct exposure to executive decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and develop a team of 2–3 accounting staff, including onsite and remote/offshore members
  • Own GL management: journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end/year-end close
  • Collaborate with the CFO on monthly financial statements, budgeting, and forecasting
  • Oversee daily accounting operations and ensure compliance with internal policies
  • Manage the journal entry process from the company's lending platform into QuickBooks
  • Manage periodic accounting and bank audits; support the CFO with bank relationships and reporting
  • Oversee the 1099 process
  • Drive process improvement initiatives across the accounting department and broader org
  • Prepare ad hoc financial reports for executive leadership as needed

Qualifications Required

  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including time as a Senior Accountant, Accounting Supervisor, or Accounting Manager
  • 2+ years of experience specifically within financial services (lending, specialty finance, banking, or credit)
  • 2+ years in a leadership or management capacity, directly overseeing staff
  • Hands-on private company accounting experience — GL ownership, ops accounting, financial reporting
  • Strong Excel skills
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business
  • Must currently reside in the Los Angeles area and be able to work fully on-site five days per week in Brentwood

Preferred

  • CPA license or active progress toward certification
  • QuickBooks experience
  • Salesforce experience
  • Familiarity with lending or equipment finance platforms

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base salary: $130,000 – $160,000, commensurate with experience
