Job description

We are seeking a Senior Accounting Analyst to support the Director of Accounting in managing accounting functions and ensuring financial accuracy, compliance with U.S. GAAP, and timeliness. This role is critical in preparing financial reports, reconciling accounts, and streamlining accounting processes. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, exceptional attention to detail, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Accounting Operations:

    • Prepare and review journal entries and account reconciliations to ensure accuracy and GAAP compliance.
    • Support the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes, meeting deadlines and maintaining efficiency.
    • Assist in maintaining the general ledger and related accounting systems.
  • Financial Reporting & Analysis:

    • Contribute to the preparation of consolidated financial reports for internal and executive leadership.
    • Analyze financial results, detect trends, and provide actionable insights to senior management.
    • Help prepare audit schedules and liaise with auditors as needed.
  • Process Improvement & Automation:

    • Identify areas for process improvement and recommend solutions to increase efficiency.
    • Contribute to system enhancements and automation initiatives to reduce manual work and improve accuracy.
  • Compliance & Internal Controls:

    • Ensure adherence to internal controls, Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) regulations, and company policies.
    • Monitor and document accounting procedures to align with industry best practices.
  • Cross-Department Collaboration:

    • Collaborate with teams across Operations, Tax, and Legal to provide accounting expertise and ensure proper recording of transactions.
    • Support initiatives related to payroll, inventory, and other specialized accounting areas.
  • Special Projects:

    • Assist with special projects, including system implementations and process improvements.
    • Provide support for strategic initiatives led by the Director of Accounting and Controller.

Qualifications

  • Education:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
    • CPA certification or in-progress CPA preferred.
  • Experience:

    • 4-7 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in medium to large organizations.
    • Proven ability to manage financial reporting, reconciliations, and internal controls.
    • Experience supporting audits and implementing process improvements is a plus.
  • Skills:

    • Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and the ability to apply it in complex situations.
    • Proficient in accounting systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite) and advanced Excel.
    • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
    • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain financial data to non-financial teams.
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
    • Positive, team-oriented mindset with a willingness to adapt and contribute to team success.
