We have a rapidly growing, private investment-backed oil & gas company based in Dallas, TX. Their mission is to optimize energy production through innovative exploration, extraction, and development strategies. With a strong financial foundation and a commitment to sustainability, they are expanding their operations and are seeking a skilled Accounting Manager to join their team.

Position Summary:

The Accounting Manager will oversee the day-to-day accounting operations and play a key role in ensuring accurate financial reporting and compliance. This individual will work closely with both the finance and operations teams to provide financial insight and drive process improvements. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in public accounting, combined with industry experience in oil & gas or energy sectors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes, including preparation of financial statements and management reports.
  • Manage the general ledger, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP and industry-specific regulations.
  • Review and ensure the accuracy of journal entries, account reconciliations, and accruals.
  • Coordinate with external auditors to facilitate annual audits and ensure compliance with financial reporting standards.
  • Monitor and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Analyze operational data and financial reports to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Support the development of annual budgets and forecasts, working closely with the finance team and department heads.
  • Collaborate with tax professionals to ensure timely and accurate filing of federal, state, and local tax returns.
  • Lead and mentor a team of accounting professionals, providing guidance on complex accounting matters and career development.
  • Provide technical accounting expertise related to oil & gas transactions, including revenue recognition, joint interest billings, and depletion.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA certification required.
  • 5+ years of experience in accounting.
  • Prior public accounting experience, ideally with clients in the oil & gas or energy sectors.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, SEC reporting, and oil & gas accounting practices (e.g., revenue recognition, joint venture accounting, etc.).
  • Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems (e.g., Oracle, SAP, or similar).
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and adapt to a fast-paced environment.
