Assistant Controller – Financial Services
Job description

Our client is a leading Financial Services firm. As they continue to scale their business, they are seeking an experienced Assistant Corporate Controller to strengthen their financial infrastructure and support the Controller in leading the accounting function.

The Assistant Corporate Controller will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and efficiency of the firm’s financial reporting and accounting processes. This is a high-impact position that works closely with senior leadership and cross-functional teams and is ideal for someone with strong technical accounting skills, industry experience, and a proactive mindset.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Corporate Controller in overseeing the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close process.
  • Ensure timely and accurate preparation of consolidated financial statements in accordance with US GAAP.
  • Oversee general ledger maintenance, intercompany activity, fixed assets, and accruals.
  • Assist in managing annual audits, including preparation of audit schedules and coordination with external auditors.
  • Maintain and enhance internal controls, accounting policies, and compliance protocols.
  • Collaborate with internal departments including Tax, Legal, and Compliance on reporting and structuring.
  • Prepare materials for board meetings, investor reports, and regulatory filings.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis in partnership with FP&A.
  • Lead or support key initiatives such as process improvements and system enhancements.
  • Mentor and develop junior accounting team members.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA required
  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience, including public accounting and in-house/private accounting roles
  • Experience within the financial services and/or investment management industry highly preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of US GAAP, consolidations, and investment/fund accounting.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Proven leadership, communication, and team development abilities.
  • Familiarity with modern financial systems and comfort working in a technology-enabled environment.
