We have a fast-growing, private equity-backed home security services company seeking a Controller to lead our accounting operations. This key role will oversee financial reporting, ensure compliance with GAAP, manage financial controls, and play a strategic role in mergers and acquisitions. The ideal candidate will hold a CPA, bring a mix of public and private accounting experience, and demonstrate deep expertise in M&A transactions. This role requires a strong leader with the ability to collaborate across departments and support the company’s rapid growth and strategic initiatives. Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all accounting functions, including financial reporting, general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll
  • Ensure accuracy and timeliness in financial reporting and maintain compliance with GAAP
  • Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes
  • Develop, implement, and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and support audit processes
  • Coordinate and manage audits, tax filings, and external reporting requirements
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for M&A due diligence and integration, including managing purchase accounting, valuations, and financial modeling
  • Support the CFO with forecasting, budgeting, and strategic financial planning
  • Implement process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy across accounting functions
  • Collaborate closely with operations, legal, and HR teams to streamline post-acquisition integration and reporting
  • Provide financial insights and guidance to the executive team to drive data-informed decisions

Qualifications:

  • CPA designation required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; Master’s degree or MBA a plus
  • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including a public/private mix
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and experience with financial reporting
  • Extensive experience with mergers and acquisitions, including due diligence and post-transaction integration
  • Proficiency with ERP systems; experience with accounting software used by mid-market companies a plus
  • Proven ability to lead and mentor accounting teams in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
