Our client, a $300M revenue manufacturing company, is seeking a hands-on Accounting Manager to join their team in Garden City. This is a fantastic opportunity for a public/private accountant looking to take on a leadership role in a growing, process-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the month-end and year-end close process, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
- Drive process automation and system improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Manage 1-2 direct reports, providing leadership, mentorship, and technical guidance.
- Perform hands-on accounting tasks, including cash reconciliations, accruals, and variance analysis.
- Implement and refine internal controls to ensure compliance and operational efficiency.
- Work cross-functionally with operations and finance teams to optimize financial processes.
- Support audits and regulatory reporting requirements.
Qualifications:
- 8+ years of progressive accounting experience.
- CPA preferred.
- Public accounting experience required—must be at least a Senior Associate (2nd-year preferred) or Manager level before transitioning to private industry.
- Public/private mix preferred, especially with manufacturing/tangible goods industry exposure.
- Experience with similar-sized companies (~$300M revenue) is a plus.
- NetSuite experience preferred or familiarity with ERP systems.
- Strong focus on automation, change management, and process improvement.
- Ability to balance leadership responsibilities while being hands-on with technical accounting tasks.
