Job description

Position Overview:

Our client is an expanding Oil & Gas firm, based in Houston, Texas. They are seeking a highly skilled professional to provide timely and insightful valuations and investment reporting for key stakeholders across a diverse range of Upstream Oil & Gas investments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Investor Reporting: Lead the monthly investor reporting process for Upstream Oil & Gas assets, including valuation support, return calculations, benchmarking, and performance measurement insights.
  • Presentation Development: Create and update investor presentations to support the reporting process and communicate key financial insights.
  • Valuation & Analysis: Perform detailed valuations of Upstream O&G assets and reserves, using Discounted Cash Flow (DCF) analysis and industry benchmarks (transactions/peer company multiples).
  • Risk & Hedging: Analyze portfolio-level risk exposure and assess hedging strategies to mitigate risk and optimize returns.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with portfolio companies and internal teams (investments, accounting, finance, tax, treasury) to gather data and perform in-depth analysis.
  • 3rd-Party Valuation Process: Manage and serve as the key point of contact for the annual third-party valuation process to support administration of Long-Term Incentive Plans (LTIP).
  • FP&A Support: Provide valuation-related support to the FP&A team during the Annual Operating Plan (AOP) and multi-year planning processes.
  • Investment Management Support: Actively support cross-functional teams across all aspects of investment management.

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, petroleum engineering, or a related field.
  • CFA or CAIA designations are a plus.
  • At least 4-7 years of experience in Oil & Gas  valuation and performance analysis within a financial services firm or professional service, strong expertise in asset valuation and investment reporting.
  • Proficiency in sophisticated financial modeling, with the ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with internal teams.
  • Experience in investor reporting is highly desirable.
  • Advanced skills in financial analysis, reporting, and presentation software (e.g., Excel, PowerPoint, financial modeling tools).
