Job description

A large engineering firm is seeking a detail-oriented Project Accountant to manage the financial aspects of engineering projects. The ideal candidate will have experience in accounting for engineering or construction projects, including budget management, cost tracking, billing, and financial reporting. You will work closely with project managers and the finance team to ensure projects stay on budget and meet financial goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Budget & Cost Management: Develop and track project budgets, monitor expenses, and ensure accurate cost allocation across labor, materials, and subcontractors.
  • Financial Reporting: Prepare monthly financial reports, highlighting cost variances and cash flow forecasts. Provide regular financial updates to project managers and senior leadership.
  • Billing & Revenue: Oversee billing processes, ensuring timely invoicing, accurate revenue recognition, and adherence to contract terms.
  • Cash Flow Management: Monitor project cash flow, ensuring timely payments to vendors and subcontractors and tracking receivables.
  • Compliance & Documentation: Ensure compliance with internal controls and industry standards. Assist with audits and maintain accurate financial records.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years in project accounting, with experience in engineering or construction projects.
  • Skills: Strong knowledge of project accounting software (e.g., Procore, Deltek), advanced Excel skills, and financial reporting. Strong attention to detail and organizational skill
