Looking for a Senior Property Accountant role with a dynamic company? We have a leading real estate management firm based in Hoboken, New Jersey, committed to delivering exceptional service and innovative solutions to our clients. Their portfolio includes a diverse range of residential, commercial, and mixed-use properties, making us a dynamic and growth-oriented organization. They are currently seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Property Accountant to join their team.

Job Summary:

The Senior Property Accountant will be responsible for managing all accounting functions related to our property portfolio. This role requires a thorough understanding of property management accounting, strong analytical skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3-5 years of experience in property accounting and a track record of accuracy and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for assigned properties.
  • Perform detailed general ledger account reconciliations.
  • Oversee the preparation of property budgets and forecasts.
  • Manage the month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Review and approve accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll transactions.
  • Coordinate with property managers to ensure accurate financial reporting and resolve any accounting issues.
  • Maintain and update property management accounting software.
  • Prepare and file sales tax returns and other compliance-related documents.
  • Assist with internal and external audits as required.
  • Provide financial analysis and support for property acquisitions, dispositions, and financing activities.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • CPA preferred but not a must have.
  • 3-5 years of property accounting experience.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and property management accounting principles.
  • Proficient in property management accounting software (e.g., Yardi, MRI, RealPage).
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
