A privately held upstream oil and gas investment corporation is seeking a Senior Portfolio Analytics Manager with a strong background in upstream oil and gas investments to join their team on a direct hire basis. The Senior Portfolio Analytics Manager will be responsible for providing critical data analysis, portfolio insights, and performance metrics that will drive strategic decision-making for the organization’s upstream investments. This is not a deal desk role but will focus on analyzing and managing portfolio performance, risk assessment, financial modeling, and reporting.
The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the upstream oil and gas investments, including exploration, production, and asset management, combined with strong analytical and financial skills. They will collaborate with senior leadership, finance teams, and investment managers to optimize portfolio performance, identify trends, and recommend strategies to improve investment outcomes.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the creation and maintenance of comprehensive portfolio analytics and performance reports for upstream oil and gas assets. Analyze key performance indicators (KPIs), financial metrics, and operational data to provide actionable insights.
- Develop and maintain financial models to project portfolio performance, including cash flows, IRR, NPV, and sensitivity analyses. Forecast future performance based on market conditions, commodity price fluctuations, and operational factors.
- Identify, assess, and quantify risks within the upstream oil and gas portfolio. Provide recommendations to mitigate risks, including price volatility, geopolitical factors, and operational challenges.
- Partner with investment managers and senior leadership to assess portfolio strategy, including asset optimization, divestments, and acquisitions. Provide detailed analytics to support strategic initiatives.
- Stay up-to-date with market trends, commodity prices, regulations, and industry developments. Leverage this information to adjust portfolio strategies and inform investment decisions.
- Work closely with finance, operations, engineering, and commercial teams to ensure alignment of portfolio management strategies. Provide analytical support for operational performance evaluations and budget planning.
- Benchmark portfolio assets against industry standards and competitors to assess relative performance and identify areas for improvement.
- Prepare and present portfolio performance updates to internal stakeholders, including senior management and external stakeholders when necessary.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, or a related field; an MBA or relevant advanced degree is preferred.
- Minimum of three years of experience in portfolio analytics, investment analysis, or financial modeling within the upstream oil and gas investments.
- Proven track record in managing and analyzing oil and gas investments (exploration, production, etc.) from a financial perspective.
- Deep knowledge of upstream oil and gas market dynamics, financial metrics, and investment strategies.
- Experience working with portfolio management software and data analytics tools.
- Strong proficiency in financial modeling, including NPV, IRR, sensitivity analysis, and forecasting.
- Ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable insights.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present findings to senior management.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and strategic thinking.
Familiarity with industry-standard tools like Excel, Power BI, Tableau, and financial modeling software
