A rapidly growing firm located in California on the Central Coast is seeking a Senior Tax Accountant to join their team. This is a REMOTE position but must reside within a 120 mile radius of Monterey County to attend meetings as needed.
The Senior Tax Accountant will be responsible for managing tax compliance and consulting for a variety of clients, ensuring the accurate preparation of tax returns, and advising on tax planning strategies.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and review complex individual, corporate, partnership, and trust tax returns (Federal, state, and local).
- Advise clients on tax strategies to optimize their tax positions, manage risks, and meet compliance requirements.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, providing proactive advice and guidance on tax matters.
- Conduct tax research and stay up to date on the latest tax laws, regulations, and industry trends to ensure clients’ compliance and tax savings.
Qualifications:
- Must reside within a 120 mile radius of Monterey County in order to attend meetings as needed.
- Bachelor’s degree is mandatory as this role requires being CPA eligible (CPA is not required)
- Minimum of four years of experience in tax accounting, preferably in a public accounting environment.
- Proficiency in tax preparation software (e.g., UltraTax, ProSystem fx, Lacerte,…) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, etc.).
- Solid understanding of tax regulations and compliance.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex tax issues in an understandable manner.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in tax return preparation and analysis.
- Ability to work independently and effectively in a remote work environment, with reliable internet access and a dedicated home office space.
