We have a leading architectural firm known for delivering innovative design solutions across various sectors. They are currently seeking a detail-oriented and driven Staff Accountant with a focus on billing to join our finance team. This hybrid role offers a blend of remote work and on-site collaboration in our New York office, providing a dynamic environment to grow your career within the architecture industry.

Position Overview:
The Staff Accountant will play a key role in managing billing processes, ensuring accurate and timely invoicing, and supporting the accounting team with financial reporting and reconciliations. This role is ideal for someone with 3-5 years of accounting experience, particularly in billing and accounts receivable, looking to advance in a creative, fast-paced industry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare, review, and process client invoices in alignment with project contracts and budgets.
  • Collaborate with project managers to ensure accurate billing data and resolve discrepancies.
  • Monitor accounts receivable, follow up on outstanding invoices, and manage collections efforts.
  • Assist with month-end close processes, including account reconciliations and journal entries.
  • Support financial reporting activities and provide documentation for internal and external audits.
  • Maintain billing schedules, contracts, and project documentation in the accounting system.
  • Assist in the preparation of financial statements, budgets, and forecasts as needed.
  • Continuously identify opportunities for process improvements to enhance billing efficiency.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 3-5 years of accounting experience, with a strong focus on billing and accounts receivable.
  • Experience in the architecture, engineering, or design industry is a plus.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including proficiency with pivot tables and VLOOKUPs.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy, with excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work independently in a hybrid environment, balancing remote and in-office responsibilities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for collaborating with internal teams and clients.
