A rapidly growing CPA firm located in Monterey County is seeking a Staff Auditor to join their team on a direct hire REMOTE basis. As a Staff Auditor, you will work directly with senior auditors and clients to execute audit engagements for a wide variety of industries.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in the planning, execution, and completion of audit engagements for clients, including financial statement audits, reviews, and compilations.
- Communicate with clients to gather necessary documentation and provide assistance during the audit process.
- Review financial statements, records, and other documents for accuracy and compliance with accounting principles (GAAP).
- Perform substantive and control testing, identify audit issues, and document findings in accordance with firm methodology and professional standards.
- Evaluate the risk factors for each audit client and contribute to the identification of any potential issues or discrepancies in financial reporting.
- Assess clients' internal control systems, identify areas for improvement, and suggest effective solutions.
- Work closely with team members and supervisors to ensure audits are completed on time and within budget.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree is required.
- Previous internship experience or at least one year experience in audit with a public accounting firm is required.
- This role is remote but must reside within a 120-mile radius of Monterey Country to go into the office for meetings as needed.
- Strong understanding of GAAP accounting principles.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to interact with clients and internal teams in a professional and clear manner.
- Able to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
